WWII-Built D7 with a Broken Blade? No Problem!

A photo of an old D7 Dozer with a brand-new blade

When a California rancher purchased this old D7 Dozer as-is with a broken blade, he reached out to his friend and Cutting Edge Supply Outside Rep Eldon Miller to help find a replacement edge.
In his 28 years with Cutting Edge, Eldon had never seen such a break.

“I think what happened is that they got water between the cutting edge and the base edge of the machine and it froze and snapped all along the bolt holes,” said Eldon. “It’s drilled on 4-inch centers where modern stuff is 6-inch. It’s so old that the metals back then weren’t nearly as good and that could have been part of what happened as well.”

Built during WWII, this D7 was originally a cable-operated dozer that was converted to a hydraulic at some point. Our Cutting Edge team was able to figure out the original part number of the edge and get a replacement blade made.
